Works inspired by ancient artifacts from Etruscan/Italian architecture and art. The series began in 2019 before her first residency in Italy. The close relationship between architecture and figural sculptures dates far back to the ancient time in Italy where tiled roofs of temples were adorned with terra-cotta faces of goddess and deities. Also, head sculptures above gateways/doorways were a common theme throughout the history of Western architecture. Reinterpreted as a wall-hung piece, it plays on the notion of sculpture becoming a protector of the place where the work is installed or a portal into another space and time.
